Chelsea are considering Espirito Santo and Lampard as the new coaches
Roman Abramovich has no intention to get rid of Maurizio Sarri until the end of the season, but it’s almost a certainty that the Italian manager doesn’t fit with the club and he could be replaced this summer.
Chelsea fans are clearly upset with his performances so far, which saw their team sitting on the 6th place in the Premier League, with some chances of finishing in the top four, which would see them playing in the Champions League group stages.
It is believed that failing to win the Europa League and completely losing the top four could see Sarri leaving Stamford Bridge before the end of the season, not to mention that some names are already considered when it comes to potential replacements.
Initially, Zinedine Zidane was a fan-favourite, but after he was re-appointed as Real Madrid manager, Chelsea started looking somewhere else. And they didn’t have to do it for a long time.
Nuno Espirito Santo is among the board’s preferences, after managing to lead Wolverhampton Wanderers to the seventh place in England’s top league, but also getting past Manchester United in the FA Cup and reaching the semi-finals.
Frank Lampard is the other option and definitely the fans’ favourite, as he would arrive with another Chelsea star, Jody Morris.
Nevertheless, if Maurizio Sarri manages to bring the Europa League trophy at Stamford Bridge, which automatically means Champions League football next season, his chances of not being axed will significantly grow.
