Neymar’s WhatsApp message to Barça’s locker room
According to’Sport’, Neymar would have assured Barça’s dressing room that his return was near. All on a WhatsApp conversation
Not a single day goes by without the Spanish press stirring up new information about Neymar and his possible return to Barcelona. This Monday, it is the Catalan daily Sport that is drawing the line by saying that the Brazilian PSG star wants to apologise publicly to Barça supporters for his transfer to Paris in the summer of 2017. Neymar could thus take the opportunity to speak, admitting that he was seduced by the huge offer of the PSG and the perspective of being the head of a project aimed to dominate Europe.
According to the Catalan press, this is a big yes. This Sunday, the daily newspaper “Sport” is indeed making its front page on Neymar, for a change. And the content is enough to scare the Parisian fans. According the newspaper, the Brazilian superstar would have reassured her former teammates that she would soon be back in Barcelona. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back,” he said in the WhatsApp group conversation with Lionel Messi crew.
It is no secret that Neymar no longer has complete immunity in the French capital, and Parisian President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi recently opened the door to a departure of the Brazilian in an interview with France Football. But PSG is not planning to sell off a player bought from Barça for €222 million in the summer of 2017, and a possible return of the former Santos man to Catalonia will take several weeks to be completed.
Neymar Jr. is still one of the most expensive footballers in the world, and this at a time when he may be experiencing one of the most difficult moments of his brilliant career. Also it is out of the top circuits of the world, not having been well ranked in the last awards of the Best and Golden Ball trophies (not even in the top ten).
Neymar’s figures are always those of a star: in 35 matches played in the last season, he has scored 26 goals and 16 assists. Few players generate as much play on the field as he does. When he was healthy, he carried his team, played and was decisive.
Barça is currently looking for a financial structure capable of bending Paris Saint-Germain. Catalan President Josep Maria Bartomeu plans to propose a cheque for 100 million euros to which he would add Philippe Coutinho, who has never managed to win on the Camp Nou pitch. An offer that could convince the PSG? It is hard to say, but it is still true that Neymar’s departure has never been more likely.
