Everybody was expecting Newcastle to have a difficult Premier League season, after promoting from the Championship, but the Magpies were in big trouble after their first games in the top English division, as everybody was considering that they have no chance of escaping relegation.

However, Rafa Benitez’s men found the power to win all three of their last games, which helped the club exit the danger zone.

Everything started with a 1-0 victory over Fulham at the start of November, being followed by three points at St. James’ Park, as well as three more away, at Burnley.

The manager said that he really hopes this three-game winning streak would not deter the club from investing in a few new players during the January transfer window because this is one big requirement if they still want to play in the Premier League after the season ends.

Benitez reportedly wants three new players, even though his ambitions were numerous times undermined by chairman Mike Ashley. There are talks with Atalanta United’s Miguel Almiron, even though the £30million asked for him may seem a bit too much, considering that Newcastle only spent money on four players during the summer.

Besides buying new players, a number of loan targets were also identified, as the club did the same thing this summer, when they brought Kenedy and Salomon Rondon.

On the other side, Newcastle could go through some serious changes in the near future, as owner Mike Ashley is looking forward to selling the club before the end of the season, revealing to Sky News that the talks are at a very advanced stage right now.

The Magpies are expected to play Huddersfield and Fulham, two clubs from the bottom half of the Premier League. If they can secure two more wins, they have all the reasons to believe that the danger is almost over.
