Back in January, Manchester United was announcing one of the biggest deals of the January transfer window, as the club snatched Alexi Sanchez from Arsenal, while the Gunners got Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s signature in exchange.
And the entire world was impressed and looking forward to seeing Sanchez playing for the Red Devils, as he was one of the most prolific players in the Premier League. Still, things didn’t go as expected.
Nowadays, the Chilean looks like a shadow of Arsenal’s Player of the Season in 2015 and 2017 and everybody is trying to find an answer for this. Apparently, his former manager, Arsene Wenger, has one.
“I believe he has lost confidence,” the Frenchman said this Wednesday, for beIN Sports.
“The strength of Alexis Sanchez is to take initiative to dribble and to take people on. Those are the players who are most vulnerable when they lose confidence their game is based on that and having that feeling to take initiative, he has lost that slowly.”

Arsene Wenger might be right, as his former player failed to establish himself as a starter for Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku being Jose Mourinho’s first choice. Still, in the last two matches, Alexis Sanchez was in the first eleven, but just because the Belgian striker is currently injured.
So far this season, Sanchez has just one goal and it’s understandable why he is failing to convince Mourinho that he deserves to start more often.
Recently, some rumors about a possible loan move started spreading, but we doubt that Manchester United is willing to let him go very easy. After all, alongside Pogba, he is one of the club’s most expensive signings. But will he ever return to the form that made him a world class player?
