Son Heung-min was suspended for the first leg against Ajax
Tottenham Hotspur produced a huge surprise last night, in the second leg of the quarter-final against Manchester City, as they went through the next stage on aggregate goals.
Even though both teams played amazing, there were a few players who managed to stand out, one of them being Spurs’ Son Heung-min, whose first-half brace gave his teammates hope that they can reach the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
However, Mauricio Pochettino won’t be able to rely on him for the game against Ajax, as the Korean picked up a booking just before half-time, for tugging Kevin De Bruyne’s shirt. But the funny part about this is that Son had no idea about this.
The player discovered that he will miss Tottenham’s next game in Europe during a live interview on German TV.
“I didn’t know,” he said when he was informed about the referee’s decision. I
This is definitely a real blow for the Spurs, as along Harry Kane, Son Heung-min was one of this season’s most prolific goalscorers, even though he was away at the beginning of the year, with international duty, leaving Mauricio Pochetiino without many options up-front.
As a side note, his interview was incredibly similar to the one Branislav Ivanovic gave back in 2012, finding out that he will miss the Champions League final with Bayern Munich, after being suspended for being booked in the semi-final with Barcelona.
