Manchester City vs Crystal Palace – Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips
An easy task for the Citizens, at least on a first glance. Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s men welcome Crystal Palace on Etihad and everybody’s expecting a clear victory for the hosts. And judging from what we saw last season, when City won 5-0, we think fans expect a fair outcome. Are the Eagles capable of delivering a surprise though?
Manchester City: Current Team Form, Estimated Line-up, and Predictions
The Citizens are second in the Premier League rankings, with 44 points, 48-10 aggregate. The defeat at Chelsea, 0-2, cost Pep Guardiola’s men the top position in the championship standings, but being just one point shy of Liverpool means Manchester City can turn things around at any given time.
City quickly recovered after that loss against Chelsea with a home win over Everton, 3-1. Gabriel Jesus scored a brace (‘22 and ‘50), with Calvert-Lewin bringing the Toffees back into the game in the 65th minute. Sterling, who started on the bench, made it 3-1 four minutes later with a powerful header from inside the box.
Mid-week, Guardiola’s men also had some duties in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. They played at Leicester and got through on penalties. De Bruyne opened the score for the Citizens after 14 minutes, but Albrighton made it 1-1 in the 73rd minute.
Aguero and De Bruyne were both included in the starting line-up. Yet, after Jesus’ brace in the game against Everton, it is possible for the Brazilian to replace Kun in the first 11 when City hosts Crystal Palace on the weekend.
David Silva, Danilo, and Mendy are out injured.
Line-up Manchester City
- Goalkeeper: Ederson
- Backfield: Kyle Walker, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Fabian Delph
- Midfield: Fernandinho, Gundogan, Bernardo Silva
- Forwards: Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling
Crystal Palace: Current Team Form, Estimated Line-up, and Predictions
Roy Hodgson’s men have two wins in their last 10 Premier League games. They stand 15th in the PL rankings, with 15 points, 14-23 aggregate. Only Huddersfield has a worse line of attack, with 10 goals scored.
Last week, Palace played at home against Leicester City. With just one victory in almost three months, we weren’t expecting much from Crystal Palace, especially with Zaha suspended. But the hosts somehow got all three points, with Milivojevic’s goal from the 39th minute. It was Palace’s only shot on target. A pretty boring encounter, we’d say, with Leicester trying more, but failing to deliver useful balls for Vardy.
On the road, Palace has four defeats in the last five games. Also, in the last three defeats, Hodgson’s defense has conceded each time three goals.
Wayne Hennessey is still having some back problems, meaning that Guaita could once again start in goal. Last time he kept a clean sheet, so Hodgson has no reason to doubt his backup keeper.
Line-up Crystal Palace
- Goalkeeper: Guaita
- Backfield: Patrick van Aanholt, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Kelly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka
- Midfield: Cheikhou Kouyate, James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic
- Forwards: Andros Townsend, Jordan Ayew, Wilfried Zaha

Betting at Bethard, you benefit from 13/100 odds for a Manchester City win, while a Crystal Palace victory gets 77/4 odds. A draw comes at some huge odds, 31/4.
There’s no way City isn’t winning this duel, but we can’t play those 13/100 odds. It wouldn’t be profitable in the long run unless we’re on an “easy money” strategy. So for our first option, we’ve chosen Manchester City – 1 EH, ⅖ odds. Our second pick is based on goals and we’re willing to bet that Manchester City will score at least three. The odds are ⅗ at Bethard. And for our final prediction, we’ve thought about Sterling scoring anytime. The English international got off the bench and scored against Everton and will want to bag another one with Palace, especially after he missed a penalty in the shootout against Leicester in the Carabao Cup.
To sum things up, we have three predictions for the Manchester City – Crystal Palace duel – Manchester City – 1 EH, Manchester City over 2,5 goals, and Sterling to score anytime.
